Spring Potluck a Success!

Depending on who's doing the counting... Lido Shorites turned out in record numbers for the March 20th First Day of Spring Potluck. By one estimate, at least 63 people made an appearance on a warm, beautiful evening to socialize, eat, drink and generally make merriment. So many, in fact, that we had to make a "wine-run" to keep the bar stocked. A nod to bartender extraordinaire Lou Cersosimo for keeping cool under fire.

Kudo's as well to Potluck Committee members Anne Essner, Joe Deleo and Richard LaBrie for organizing the affair. Members and families dined on a veritable bounty of their neighbor's culinary creations, from smoked pulled pork and fried chicken, healthy salads to zesty lemon squares, and everything in between.

Christina Landry won the evening's raffle prize, a gift basket featuring six bottles of great wine donated by the DeLeos, Essners and Kates-LaBries. A spontaneous pre-sunset dash by dozens of volunteers made tear down and clean up a breeze...allowing the remaining couple dozen or so revelers to experience the first sunset of spring.

This year, a number of people took advantage of tables and chairs set up in the pavilion to catch the evening's cool breeze, gaze at the gulf and meet new neighbors.

That's our take on Lido Shores annual rite of spring. We tend to wear rainbow colored glasses at times while sharing our optimistic observations. Life is good, right. But we can always do better. Let us know what you thought of this year's Spring Potluck. (Click the stamp on the right or go to our Contact page.) And it's never too early to mark your calendar for the Fall Edition, coming to a beach Pavilion near you.  —BT
