How it navigated Sarasota's shallow passes and docked majestically on the Bayfront at Marina Jack is any one's guess. It helps to only require a draft 6.5-feet. But there she sits~the Sea Fair~$40-million dollars worth of gleaming, nautical high-tech, high seas astonishment. A little gushy? Maybe so. But after taking the tour of this luxury five-story, 228-foot behemoth—billed as the worlds first mobile mega yacht art venue—with thousands of other curiosity seekers Saturday night, it lives up to it's billing.
The SeaFair first launched in 2007. It plies the Intercoastal waterways of the Eastern seaboard primarily during the spring and summer months, a floating fine art gallery stopping in affluent ports where high end collectors vacation. We spied our our own neighborhood artist luminary Florence Putterman showing her paintings in one of the ship's 28-on-board galleries, which also feature jewelery, photography, sculptures and other collectibles.

Dining, cocktails and stunning views of the city are also part of the Art Sarasota experience, which runs through Monday, March 28. And we soaked them all in, while taking time to pose in front of a giant peace symbol designed by a Miami artist. We also spotted new neighbors

SeaFair heads north to Newport, RI in June, and Martha's Vineyard in July. ~BT
