Valuable Power Outage Information

Call FPL 1-800-468-8243 for Power Outages

We had a power outage on Lido Shores this week and when I finally phoned Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) I got some valuable information I thought would be helpful to pass around.

Basically, when an outage occurs, the sooner and the more people who call in, will result in a much faster response time.  Apparently most people wait before calling because they think their neighbours will notify FPL.  When I called I was given a time of 6 hours before the repair was to be taken care of!  The rep said that if more people call in it will be given a higher priority.  Luckily for us we had power in 3 hours and it looked like most the neighbourhood was not affected this time.  It's good to know the number to call for outages 1-800-468-8243 and have your account number ready (or phone number associated with the account). Next time I'll be calling immediately. —Marg Mills
