You're Invited to Officer "D"s Award Ceremony Tuesday April 26

Sarasota Police Officer First Class Donzia Franklin is this year’s recipient of the Community Service Award by the Lido Shores Home Owners Association. Ms. Franklin, better known as “Officer D,” will be honored for her 20-years of exceptional public service to the residents of Lido Shores and to Sarasota on Tuesday, April 26, at 2:30 p.m. The Award Ceremony will take place in the St. Armand’s Circle Park. A reception with cash bar will be held immediately following the award ceremony, hosted by Cafe L'Europe.

Officer Franklin works the night shift and patrols the St. Armand’s Circle area, as well as the Lido Shores neighborhood, and can often be seen patrolling by bicycle. Lido Shores Board Vice President Bob Thill says, “Officer D" was chosen for our highest award for her dedication, not only as an outstanding public servant, but also for her care and concern for everyone she comes in contact with. We can’t think of anyone more deserving.”

Attending the ceremony will be Sarasota Police Chief Mikel Holloway, as well as other Department Captains and fellow officers. A number of Sarasota community and business and leaders are also expected to attend. The public is invited.
