| Les & Lois Fishman at 2015 LSPOA Annual Dinner |
Leslie M. Fishman passed away on December 29th at the age of 93. He and his wife Lois came to Lido Shores from Chicago in 1993. The Fishman’s purchased architect Don Chapell’s home on Pansy Bayou at 1070 Westway Drive.
Chapell was selling because he was designing and building his dream house just around the corner at 150 Morningside Drive. A few years later, Les and Lois employed architect Guy Peterson to design an addition and expand the house to its present size.
Les served on the LSPOA board and as president from 1996 to 1998. During that time, our beach access rights were at risk from a lawsuit. Association archives show the hard work and leadership that Les provided was key to the successful defense of our beach easement.
Les was a true Chicago sports fan – the Bears, White Sox and Blackhawks were his favorites. With his background as President and CEO of Edward Don & Company, a restaurant supply business, Les always appreciated a well-prepared meal and a fine wine.
The Fishman’s have resided at Sarasota Bay Club since 2015. Les is survived by Lois, his wife of 33 years, and a blended family of nine- children, 17- grandchildren and two-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Mt Sinai Health Systems (www.sinaichicago.org/giving/donate), Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee (www.jfedsrq.org) or InStride Therapy Inc. (www.instridetherapy.org).
Chapel Service will be Friday, January 7, 2022, at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home in Arlington Heights, IL.
