Neither the threat of Omicron nor the cold and windy weather could put a damper on this year’s LSPOA Annual Meeting, January 23rd! With smiles (and parkas) on, the set-up committee, led by two of our new Social Committee co-chairs, Jan Farber and Colleen Carroll, organized the Annual Meeting in probably the most interesting venue to date, the parking lot outside of the beach entrance.
Some 60-Lido Shorians arrived on foot, on bicycle and by car. Some brought tumblers filled with their own favorite beverages and others opted to partake of the hors d’oeuvres and wine provided by the Association.
Janet Augustine, our ever-present bartender, was again on hand to serve drinks to neighbors who over the years have become old friends. Music played on a portable speaker as smiles and laughter filled the chilly air. Old friends chatted and many new friends were introduced. There was a “flyby” of a majestic bald eagle, and the sun even managed to poke through the clouds.

Outgoing LSPOA Board President Dennis Bischoff delivered remarks on the 2021 calendar year that highlighted the current state of the beach (good news: it’s robust again), the ongoing threat of hotel houses in our neighborhood, explosive real estate activity in Lido Shores and new activities available, such as a monthly book club and a fledgling pickle ball league. A special thanks to Denis for his hard work these past two-trying years.
We took a moment to remember neighbors we have lost in 2021… and outgoing Social Committee Chair Anne Essner was presented a gift to thank her for her endless work on behalf of Lido Shores. A round of applause was given for those leaving the board… Katie Best, Lois Trotochau and Sue Weitendorf… and for the good work they had done this past year.

Denis welcomed new board members Bill Farber, Jen Fleming and Hilary Valentine.
Our new board officers are Cathy Voigts, President; Bill Farber, Vice-President; Fik Isaac, Treasurer; and Hilary Valentine, Secretary.
You can see from that roster that Cathy immediately found jobs for many of the new members! Good luck to all!
As darkness began to descend, we took a couple of group photos to commemorate the day, then members drifted off into the night.
Thanks to all who attended. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Spring Pot Luck on March 27th!
