New Social Committee Co-Chairs Announced

When you make your RSVP this week to LSPOA’s Annual Meeting and Dinner on Sunday, January 23rd, you’ll notice there are some new names listed for your response.  After many years of managing our neighborhood social events, Anne Essner is stepping down.  A trio, Carol Bowen, Colleen Carroll and Jan Farber, are all stepping in as LSPOA’s new Social Committee Co-chairs.

Vic Bass & Carol Bowen

Carol Bowen, a long-time Lido Shorian, lives at 315 Morningside Drive. She loves the neighborhood, and its amazing residents, as well its social events, so she happily returns to the Social Committee after previously chairing a few years ago.  Carol divides her time between Sarasota and Concord, MA, traveling back and forth with her fiancé, Vic Bass. 

Carol loves travel, especially to see her daughters Stephanie & Kimberly (when Covid permits), biking, gardening, beach walks, book groups & yoga. There will be wedding bells in June, but for now, Carol will bring her party-planning expertise to our neighborhood events.

 

Colleen & Chris Carroll

Colleen Carroll, with husband Chris, are relatively new to Lido Shores, having bought 1219 Westway Drive after the start of the Covid pandemic.  But they were active and avid participants at our recent fall potluck, so Colleen gave us an enthusiastic “yes!” when asked to join the group.  

Colleen and Chris have two kids at Ohio State, freshmen twins, Will and Allison (a member of the Varsity Rowing Team), so they continue to make the trip back and forth to Rocky River, Ohio to see the friends and family that they are trying to recruit to Sarasota. Colleen enjoys exploring Sarasota by land and sea, looking for great restaurants, taking in the theater, outdoor art exhibits and also finding the perfect sand bar to anchor on for an afternoon on this amazing Sun Coast.  

Bill & Jan Farber

Jan Farber, with husband Bill, daughter Emily and grandson Max, have lived at 1339 Westway Drive since November 2020, and are very enthusiastic about living on Lido Shores.  Jan and Bill lived in Summit, NJ, and New York City, where Jan was a volunteer with the High Line.  

In Sarasota, Jan keeps busy with walks on the beach, Pilates, two book groups, cooking, boating and lots of concerts and ballet performances.  Many of us will remember the wonderful concert held on the beach last April, with a brass quartet composed of musicians from the Sarasota Orchestra, that the Farbers' organized just for our neighborhood.  Without a doubt, there will be more creative ideas to come.

 

When Covid eventually wanes and our neighborhood hopefully gets back into more of a normal social scene, we can all look forward to experiencing Carol, Colleen and Jan’s ideas under their new leadership.
