The Sarasota Museum of Art (SMOA) is doing an interior installation. You all no doubt have driven by last year's exterior installation in front of the old Sarasota High School by Patrick Dougherty. This year's artist is Lisa Hoke.
You can visit her website at LisaHoke.com, to see her work, and the materials she uses. Lisa Hoke's works utilize recycled materials. Her primary material is colorful cardboard such as boxes for cereal, granola bars, cleaning products, beer, candy, playing cards, etc. The most important qualities are color, and the density needs to be at least as much as an index card.
Our own local artist and Lido Shores neighbor Lisa Kates is helping to organize and collect these materials for the installation. She requests first dibs on these types of materials before they go in your recycling bin. You can leave them by her garage at 200 Morningside Dr., or call her to pick them up 941-544-6693.
