NEWS RELEASE
Police Request Assistance in Apprehending Suspect of St. Armand’s Circle
Residential Burglaries
Since November 2012, there has been a series of residential
burglaries on St. Armand’s Circle. The suspect is prying the rear sliding glass doors or the
front door to gain entry, and often targets the master bedroom where the most
valuable jewelry can be found. There
is a possibility the suspect is watching the home in order to determine when
the homeowner is away.
In most of the burglaries, the homeowner has an alarm
system but it was not activated. In other cases the homeowners are not locking
the doors of their home upon leaving. The most common location has been N.
Washington Dr. and most recently S. Washington Dr. The Sarasota
Police Department urges all residents to utilize their alarm system and if the
system has video capabilities, to ensure it is operating properly. It is also recommended that any
valuable items be secured in a safety deposit box or in a secure area.
Our Criminal Investigations Division is dedicated
and committed to working this area until the suspect has been apprehended. We ask citizens to be aware of their
surroundings and call 911 if they notice any suspicious activity, vehicles or
persons.
