LSPOA Golf Cart Caroling Festive But Soggy

The second annual LSPOA Golf Cart Carolers event rolled merrily through Lido Shores last Thursday eve, December 22nd.  Holiday themed golf carts and bicycles, adorned in festive lights and ornaments dashed through the 'hood... trying to beat the impending rain.

Alas, the hearty band of singing revelers only made a few stops before giving in to the weather.  But not before entertaining some neighbors.  

Kathryn Edstrom, who along with husband Lee organized the event... dubbed themselves the Aqua Carolers.  Best to let Kathy explain:

The group assembled at 6:45 PM with an ominous radar picture but several umbrellas. There were 5-decorated carts, 2-decorated electric bikes and a few walk ups! We started out with 21-Aqua-Carolers and grew to 24 by the 3rd house! 

The procession started off well enough at Lois Trotochau's house, with Deck the Halls, Silent Night and We Wish You a Merry Christmas... with just a spattering of sprinkles.

The weather held off for Peggy and Ken Abt's house, but by Stu and Mirian Cassell's  house the rain was more insistent and the songs were abbreviated. The cloudburst began at Ken McMillen and Ron Stanish's house... who hadn't quite gotten home yet from their dinner.  We had cut the time at the first 3-houses to try to get everyone in,  and they weren't expecting us so early.   

As we left their house on the way to Sue and Bob Lifeso's, the deluge hit, the heavens opened up (but not with song) and Lee Edstrom's accordion became increasingly in jeopardy as water began collecting in the streets. The troup reluctantly disbanded with thoughts of a warm, dry reprise for 2023. 

So if you're looking for entertainment on the cheap, call us, The Aqua Carolers...we'll be available for next year, BUT with a secure rain date and laminated song sheets!
