| Second LSPOA beach bench is recovered and now back home |
What are the odds? Most people would have bet we'd never again see one of our washed away benches, let alone both of them. But this week,
Lido Shorian John Byles spotted the wayward
LSPOA bench along the seawall near the
Sarasota Sailing Squadron at the tip of
City Island. The bench was picked up by
Elliott Himelfarb and is now back in the Pavilion parking area near it's twin by the foot wash. It's missing one of it's bottom beams, but otherwise is none the worse for wear.

The
LSPOA Board of Directors had voted at it's February 1st meeting to purchase two new beach benches. That's now a moot issue.
So the questions are: where exactly do we locate these second chance furniture pieces and, if back on the beach, just how to secure them so they don't get hijacked by mother nature again.
