Picture Perfect Beach Holiday in Paradise

patriotic cheerleaders
Dude!  You didn't have to go far Sunday to get a senses reeling taste of world class beach activity, and then some.  The normally languid gulf waters were churned up, as our own Lido Beach was the place to be July 3rd.  Powerboats raced, pleasure boaters and swimmers floated and watched, while the rest of us kicked back on the sand and soaked up the view.

The 27th Annual Suncoast Offshore Super Boat Grand Prix was the main attraction, but for our money, a cool pavilion, a slew of beach umbrellas and coolers, along with some Chicago Dogs from Tasty Takeout, and well sir, it doesn't get much better than that.

LSPOA Board President Bob Garvin was seen waving the red, white and blue.  Children like Eli and Elise contentedly cavorted in the Gulf. Janet and Ramona compared hats. Susie and Andrew compared tans. Others, like Wayne Freed, eagerly devoured one of dozens of hand-crafted hot dogs, replete with just about every topping and condiment ever known to happily crowd together inside a poppy seed bun.

Among our favorites, spicy hot peppers, celery salt and whole dill pickle spears. Now that's holiday feasting at it's finest. Hats off to Earl Hjertsteut and fiancée Diana from Tasty Takeout, who labored behind a hot - hot dog stand and under a steamy Sunday sun to dish out the gastronomically fab fare.

Monday, the 4th, was almost an afterthought, (right?), after spending such a great beach day with neighbors, friends and family.  ~BT
