Dancing the Night Away

Dance band Powerhouse Next Generation rocks the West Way Cup-De -Sac Memorial Weekend

As the Rolling Stones and David Bowe would sing from their 1985 remake of the Martha and the Vandellas hit – there was “Dancing in the Street!”  On Westway and West Way Place to be exact.  Saturday, May 27th turned out to be a perfect night for dancing in the streets of Lido Shores.  A cool breeze, not a cloud in the sky and nothing but friendly faces.

As the sun set over New Pass, the air was filled with exhilarating rhythms and sounds from the band Powerhouse Next Generationcourtesy of LSPOA members Lisa and Merrell Ketchum.

You see, the Ketchums's daughter Morgan was supposed to be married last year, but Hurricane Ian spoiled their plans.  The band was already booked... so the Ketchum’s bad luck was Lido Shores gain.

Lisa and Merrell created an amazing environment with a tent covering the West Way cul-de-sac.  There was a dance floor, and lounge areas to rest everyone’s tired feet.  The 11-piece band from Orlando, clad in hot pink and black, kept everyone moving under the big top.

Songs by Tina Turner, Abba, and Flo Rida, to name a few, kept the energy high and neighbors on the dance floor long after sunset.

The unique outdoor venue brought Lido Shorians together in a new and exciting way.  There was a lot of mingling, shared drinks, and food,  as well as guests from around the country.

The new bride and groom, Morgan and Evan, were cheered on, and we toasted to a happy and long (hurricane-free) marriage!
