Get ready for your close-up. Lido Shores: Sarasota MOD Weekend 2022 is just around the corner. The ever-popular Lido Shores Walking Tour on Saturday, November 12th is back this year and better than ever during MOD Weekend, which runs November 11th through the 13th. Lido Shorians may already realize how special our architectural heritage is, but this is a great chance to learn more while celebrating it.
The 9th Annual Event has grown steadily every year in sophistication and attendance. This year’s theme is devoted to “Tropical Modernism,” in which climate elements such as light, heat and humidity drive key decisions in building design.

| November 11th - 13th |
Lido Shores is Sarasota’s original “tropical modern” neighborhood. It's where the Sarasota School of Architecture began. Designer and developer Phillip Hiss brought ideas from around the world, gathering talent here in Sarasota, to create one of the most important experiments in residential modern living in the United States.
But Sarasota MOD also offers plenty of other activities and events throughout the weekend. There are kayak tours (what better way to see coastal homes than from the water?) and trolley tours (hop aboard a vintage trolley and be guided by architectural experts while viewing some of Sarasota’s best examples of civic, commercial and residential tropical modernism) and yoga (“salute the sun” around the pool at Umbrella House).

There will be a symposium with a panel of globally-known experts exploring questions such as: Why does architecture look the way it does? What drives design decisions?
And let’s not forget the parties. Watch the sunset at Friday night's opening party from the terrace of the Ca’ d’Zan at Ringling Museum while sipping cocktails, nibbling on hors d’oeuvre and listening to great music.
Join us in The Shop at Architecture Sarasota’s McCulloch Pavilion for a book signing and reception with Max Strang, founding principal of STRANG Design, in celebration of the firm’s new publication, Subtropic.
