One of Sarasota's legendary architects, Tim Seibert, was honored at the opening of the Sarasota Architectural Foundation's MOD Weekend November 10, 2017 at the Hiss Studio. SAF presented Seibert with the Art + Architecture Lifetime Achievement Award. He was part of the Sarasota School of Architects in the 1950's, 60's and 70's along with Paul Rudolph, Victor Lundy, Gene Leedy, Jack West and others. Here are highlights of the opening night event in Lido Shores at the Hiss Studio. The performer is Rikki Hettig- Rolfe Meaux, an alum of Sarasota Sailor Circus.
Tim's acceptance "speech", while short, is very Tim Seibert! SarasotaMOD.com
As I said on YouTube... "About 10 seconds into the video, a performer suspended from the tree is identified as Blake Wallenda, Circus Aerialist. Blake Wallenda did perform... next door on a high-wire. The performer in the tree is Rikki Hettig-Rolfe Meaux ( http://www.rikkisilks.com/ ) and she was great. She'd taught that day at a Montessori school in Sarasota and then culminated her aerial performance that evening by pouring Tim SIebert a glass of Champagne -- upside down (yes, smart alecks... she was upside down... the bottle and glass were right-side up)."

The circus artist in the tree is Rikki Hettig-Rolfe Meaux ( http://www.rikkisilks.com/ ), who specializes in "aerial silks" and she was great. By day, she's a teacher at a Sarasota Montessori school. After finishing her teaching day, she dashed to Lido Shores to perform in the massive banyan tree in front of the Hiss Studio that evening. The performance culminated with her pouring Tim SIebert a glass of Champagne -- upside down (yes, smart alecks... she was upside down... the bottle and glass were right-side-up). In contrast to the flowing aerial performance, Siebert's acceptance speech for his lifetime achievement award was a model of crisp efficiency.
