Suzanne did and told police she must have left her gate unlocked. She says she usually checks it every night, but it was raining so hard and the gate looked solidly closed when she went to bed at midnight that she let it go. She thinks the gate likely blew open during the storm, presenting an easy opportunity for a thief to walk onto her property and steal the expensive oriental rug. She discovered the theft about 10 am the following morning. Apparently nothing else was taken or disturbed.
Suzanne wants to remind Lido Shorians to be vigilant. Anne added, “Especially at this time of year, when there is a smaller number of us in residence, we have fewer people keeping an eye on the neighborhood. Don’t give a thief an easy target. Make it a habit to secure your home and belongings.”
