Center Place Duckling Dynasty

8-Hatched duckling eggs all that's left of Center Place nest.

Editors Note:  Here's the latest on the Berkebile's fledgling duck hatchery. You might recall that a pair of mottled duck's randomly chose the front of Mary and Kevin's Center Place home as a nursery. Daddy Duck maintained a round the clock vigil as Mom tended the nest. Kevin picks up the mostly mysterious rest of the story.

I watched closely but with all my efforts they all hatched and Mama duck hustled them away, possibly over to Pansy Bayou. I even had our 24/7 security cameras (with infrared) trained on the nest area.

On Friday, April 24th, I checked the nest area to find 8-empty egg shells with no evidence of fowl play [pun intended].

I even reviewed the time elapsed footage and only saw him / or her standing guard for nearly five hours (like a statue) at the thicket opening near the nest. I can only assume she was scoping for activity and planning the march to the Bayou while the ducklings rested and gained strength.

Pass it on, if anyone sees Mama and ducklings (x 8) swimming about on the Bayou, photos would be awesome. Mama did her job. Hopefully some of our Lido Shores neighbors saw them in transit...?
