Upgrades to the parking areas in Bird Key Park are in progress as of Tuesday, January 7, 2014. Due to the volume of parking and excessive wear, the drivable grass parking areas will be replaced with sustainable pavers to endure the amount of heavy parking use.
Bird Key Park will be open to the public during the upgrades and park users will have access to parking areas that are not undergoing upgrades.
Replacements started on the west side of the park and work on the east side will begin in roughly two weeks.
The project is expected to be finished within one month and the cost for the replacements is $75,467.00.
