Bay Guardian volunteers will clean up the area beginning 8:30am as part of the National Coastal Cleanup Day. Click here to sign up to be a volunteer at the event. Current exhibitors include Mote Marine Laboratory, Florida Underwater Sports, Manatee County Natural Resources Department, Sarasota Audubon, Island Style Water Sports, Friends of Tampa Bay Wildlife, Florida Native Plant Society, Save our Seabirds, Sarasota County Extension, Seafood Savvy, and Stow-it Fishing Line Bins.
9am to 2pm - Ken Thompson Park Fun Activity Day
This free outdoor event at Ken Thompson Park will present fun learning activities and exhibits for adults and children of all ages. Visitors can pick up a discount ticket at the event for admission to Mote Aquarium.
Mangrove Forest Tour
Around the Bend Nature Tours will provide dip nets to give visitors an up close encounter with aquatic life as well as guided tours on the boardwalk through the local mangrove forest.
Kayaking
Brad Tanner, the SBEP Bay Wise kayak tour guide and a staff member at Mote Marine, will provide a series of Paddling 101 mini-courses for visitors interested in learning more about recreational paddling. Visitors can bring their own kayak and some extra kayaks will be available.
Disc Golf Putting Clinic
Bryan Moore, a professional disc golf player, will provide free lessons and a putting clinic.
Face Painting
Local artist Patti Cross and her daughter Amber will be available for face painting.
2pm - Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Show Performance
The highlight of the day will be a show by the Sarasota Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Show Team beginning at 2pm.

Native Plant Sale

Don't miss the annual native plant sale sponsored by the Florida Native Plant Society. It will be held at Longboat Run Park off University Parkway in Sarasota. The sale features native shrubs, grasses, and blooming wildflowers for use in all types of gardens. Experts will be on hand along with representatives with Audubon Society, Sierra Club, the Florida Native Plant Society, and the Sarasota Bay Estuary Program.
