| Lido Shorians enjoy The Apple Butter Express Bluegrass Band at the Pav |
It started a bit late... but by 4:30pm on Thursday afternoon (April 25th)... Lido Beach was filled with the up tempo, swampy sounds of Tampa based Bluegrass jam band The Apple Butter Express. The four-member group, fronted by husband and wife duo Kyle and Shannon Biss... complete with stand-up Bass, a primo Fiddle player and singer Kyle's funky Ukulele... quickly got toes tapping in the sand.
The hour-plus energetic set included lots of imaginative, upbeat, Florida and Americana based originals... a couple of well executed Beatles tunes, including an extended version of "Eleanor Rigby"... the always popular "Orange Blossom Special"... and a surprisingly clever cover of the Allman Brothers Band classic, "Tied to the Whipping Post."
This was the second appearance in Lido Shores for the band discovered by LSPOA President Bill Farber and wife Jan. And judging by the rousing applause, they'll be invited back next season.
