| LSPOA Pavilion under seige. High tide at 12:15 pm Sunday |
 |
| Water has already run under the Pav deck |
Tropical Storm Alberto tracked to the west of Sarasota... bringing with it high wind gusts... not a lot of rain... but another round of dune scouring waves.
LSPOA's Pavilion is now on what's left of our beach... the last remaining 6-1/2"-feet of dune we had a few days ago adjacent to the Southwest corner of the structure is now just more than 2-feet separating it from Gulf waters.
These pictures from
Lee Edstrom,
Elliott Himelfarb and
Richard LaBrie from Sunday (May 27) afternoon clearly show how close the Pavilion is to being swallowed up by tidal surges. Richard reported waves lapping under the Pavilion floor earlier Sunday.

| Once high and dry, the LSPOA Pavilion is in danger of being swallowed up by Gulf waters |
The
LSPOA Beach Erosion Sub-committee is exploring emergency sandbagging and the possibility of moving the Pavilion to higher ground, but both options require either permitting and/or zoning hurdles.
