2016 Hot Dogs on the Beach a huge success!

100 Lido Shorians and their guests braved the 95+ degree heat & humidity to gather on Sunday, July 3 for the annual Hot Dogs on the Beach event and watch the boats assemble for the Sarasota Power Boat Grand Prix Races finale.

Storm clouds threatened and thunder rumbled, but happily only a few drops actually fell. Several attendees said they were thrilled as it cooled the air a bit. Thanks to Gail Barzman's excellent suggestion, the Social Committee engaged a fabulous new hot dog vendor, Webber's Hot Dogs. Gail knew owner Scott Pastor's parents when she lived in Buffalo. The small world connection paid off as Scott knew about a quarter of the attendees! He and his crew indefatigably charcoal-grilled & served scores of delicious large hot dogs, fixin’s, sodas and chips to neighbors and guests, despite the heat, humidity and brief shower.

Another new and extremely well received addition was beer and wine, generously donated by Howard Rooks and Amore Restaurant. Thank you Howard and Amore!

Later, happy beachgoers enjoyed popsicles and ice cream from LSPOA and juicy watermelon, kindly donated by Judy & Fred Fiala.

All in all, a perfect part to the July 4th holiday weekend celebrations!
