The 2012 LSPOA Board of Directors

There were a number of firsts on Monday night March 5th. Our Lido Shores Board of Directors convened its first meeting of 2012 in a new venue, the Sarasota Sailing Squadron, with new president Bob Thill presiding. Board members tackled several issues during the hour-long session, from who attends what event to beach landscaping and neighborhood signage.

Ken Abt, Beach-Landscaping Committee Chair, asked for ideas and volunteers to come up with and implement a plan to add new Florida native vegetation and revitalize the area around the Pavilion and parking lot. If you'd like to be part of the discussion and planning for the new look of the beach area, let Ken know at 312-6454.

Ken McMillen attended to let the board know that two new Lido Shores signs are ready to be installed, replacing ones currently in place at the west entrances. New board member Dan Mills volunteered to spearhead removing the old signs and putting the new ones in.

Anne Essner, Social Committee Chair, reminded everyone of the need to RSVP by March 14th for our upcoming Spring Potluck, to be held at Jean and Kent William's home from 5-7 pm on Sunday, March 18th.

The board also ruled on who may attend which LSPOA events each year. Only LSPOA members are allowed to attend the Annual Meeting in January, while members and house guests only may come to the Spring and Fall Potluck events. Members may invite guests to attend the July Hot Dog and Boat Race event, as well as any monthly Sunday Sunset Gatherings.

All-in-all a most productive start to the new year. Meetings are held at 5:15 pm the first Monday of each month at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron.

Note: Another new group met Monday night - the LOL, aka Ladies Of Lido - in the bar of the Sailing Squadron over glasses of white wine. A warm invitation is extended to all ladies living in Lido Shores to join the LOL whenever the board meets every month, same time/same place. Cheers!
